5 weeks and first road trip!

This week was a crazy and fun filled one for Landon.  We had Devin's graduation, a wedding and birthday party back home so we loaded up the car and headed for Spencer on Friday.  Landon traveled GREAT!!  He fussed for about the first 15 minutes on the way there and slept the rest of the way and then on the way home he fussed for about 4 minutes and slept most of the way home.  Landon met the rest of his grandparents and started meeting some great-grandparents.  He may have been just a little spoiled this weekend...he's been pretty fussy the past two days.  We should probably get used to it because we are heading home to Remsen this weekend for another fun filled (spoiled weekend) with Daddy's side of the family.  Landon also went to his first I-Cubs game last night.  He loved it and did great.  I am thinking he might be a boy who loves to be outside!  Landon continues to get bigger and stronger.  We went to the Doctor last Wednesday to do a weight check and he weighed in at 10 lbs. 6 oz.  So he has gained almost 3 pounds since he was born.  He isn't struggling to eat enough that is for sure.  He loves to kick his legs and is starting to have more head control.  The other day he pushed himself all the way across the couch when I put my hands behind his legs for traction.  If he could just figure out what to do with his arms.  We also have to be careful with tummy time on the boppy because he can push himself over and is trying to be a little gymnast already!

We will post more updates next week!!

This is new...I kinda like it!!

1 month old!!!

Crazy to think that Landon is already a month old!!  He is getting so big!!

Here is a review of the past week and the past month!

This past week Landon got to meet his great-aunt Bonnie.  Bonnie and Suz came through Ankeny on their way to Kansas City and decided to stop and visit.  Landon had a great time cuddling with his aunt!

We have gone on a couple more walks.  It seems that anything involving the car seat is an instant way to get him to sleep.  He is a great sleeper in the car and on walks.

The bath has become a more enjoyable experience.  He has a little bit of shock getting into the water, but after that he seems to like it.  We haven't gotten an official smile yet, but it almost looks like it in his towel after bathtime yesterday!

Landon also took a big step this week and has started taking a bottle.  Matt feeds Landon a couple times a day.  Landon took the bottle great, yet continues to nurse without any problems.  This has been a big relief for me, so I know that when I go back to work, we won't have any feeding issues.

I also got the official OK from work that I have enough sick leave so I am off until July 18th PAID!!!  With 4 weeks under our belt I can't imagine having to go back after only 6 weeks.  I am very lucky with my job and the amount of time I will be able to take off.

Landon also had another visit from his friend Ethan.  Ethan loves coming over to see "baby Landon."  When he held him this time he thought it was hilarious that he could put his finger in the Binky and Landon would bite on his finger.  He also taught Landon "This little Piggy."  It was sooo cute!!

We've had a week of more fussiness.  Nothing we can't handle but gas and struggles to go to the bathroom have been getting the better of Landon.  Thanks to our friends Ashley and Kevin we have started using gas drops and they help a lot!!  Just need Landon to get a little older so he can figure out the whole bathroom thing!!

For Mother's Day we went up to Ames to go to Red Lobster for dinner.  The hostess obviously thought Landon was a big little boy since we got offered a children's menu on our way to the table.  Matt and I thought after that we should have checked to see if kids eat free and we could have had a little appetizer :o)  I'm pretty sure they didn't have Landon's food on the menu!

We have a big week coming up.  Landon and mommy are going to go to the end of year picnic at mommy's work tomorrow.  It should be fun for Landon to meet all of mommy's work friends!  I'm sure he won't get any attention.  This weekend we are taking our first road trip to Grandma and Grandpa Brehmers.  We have a wedding to go to on Saturday and Uncle Devin graduated, so we have his party on Saturday as well.  Landon finally gets to meet a lot of the family.   Wish us luck and maybe say a prayer that our first 3 hour drive goes okay.  We will be crossing our fingers for lots of napping!!

The animals are slowly starting to adjust to Landon.  They like his stuff more than he does at this point!

Week 3

It is hard to believe that Landon is already 3 weeks old and on his way to a month!!  We have started getting out more and getting in the hang of being a family of 3!

Landon and I went on our first walk this week.  It ended up being a little hot and mommy realized how out of shape I really am!!  Using pregnancy as an excuse not to exercise is a very bad idea!!!  The weather is supposed to be beautiful for the next few days so hopefully Landon and I will give that stroller a work out.

We also went to the 1st Des Moines Farmers Market of the year on Landon's 3 week birthday!  Landon's friend Ethan invited us and while Landon slept the whole time Ethan had a great time!  Here is a picture of Ethan (age 3) and Landon (3 weeks) at the farmers market.

Landon continues to sleep like a champ.  We use swaddle blankets after he eats between 9 and 11.  He has slept for a consistent 4-6 hours at night.  This makes mommy very happy.  Hopefully he will be a night owl who loves to sleep in just like mommy!!!

During the day, Landon is liking to nap on his side and also sleep in his swing or bouncy chair.  He spends some quality time in the bouncy chair and even hits the animals on accident and then looks in amazement that something just happened.  He also likes to kick his leg/s and feet out of his blanket.  Once again, he is his father's child!!

He is also starting to hold his head up.  It seems pretty young, but he wants to be able to look around and know what is going on.  When holding him, he will hold his head up and turn from side to side.  Wants to be part of the conversation already.

Wednesday we went to Brandon and Lisa's for the night and had a photo shoot!!!  Lisa got some GREAT pictures and we will make sure they are uploaded when we get them.  My little caterpillar is already getting so big!!

Here are just a few extra pictures from week 3!!
