Pictures, Pictures, Pictures

Matt got the closet done tonight and the nursery cleaned of big boy toys!!  Funny it takes him so long to build it and only takes me 30 minutes to fill it!?!?!?!?!  A baby could ALMOST live here :o)  Enjoy...

Waiting, waiting, waiting

Sorry for the delay in posts. I was planning on posting last Sunday, but then we started making big progress in the nursery so I thought I would wait and post pictures....Well it is a week later and still no pictures, but it is because we/Matt are/is making such progress every day that the pictures are old. I am being told that the closet will be done tomorrow and therefore the tools will be out of the room and pictures will look good!!! This past week the nursery got a changing table, dresser, ceiling fan, curtain rods, curtains, clock, and glider rocker!!! Items are slowly making their way out of totes in my office and into the nursery.

Today I am 31 weeks, we are officially in the single week countdown. I start having doctors appointments every 2 weeks. We also started our prenatal classes this past week. Pretty informational, but all we really got this week is that it hurts like crazy, but there is no going back and only one way out....good thing they have Great drugs now ;o).

I have also had a VERY active baby the past couple weeks. Sleeping has become a challenge, not because I can't get comfortable, but because every time I do baby H likes to have a little dance party. I was woke up a couple times last week between 5 and 5:30 due to a party in my tummy I didn't know I was invited to.

I think that is all for now...hopefully the closet will be done and pictures will be posted tomorrow!!!

Boy or Girl???

Today I am officially 29 weeks!!  Only 11 more weeks to go!  The nursery has started looking more and more like a nursery and not a room under construction.  The crown molding is up and today we bought a ceiling fan and the stuff to put in a closet organizer.  I am going to start decorating in there yet!!

Matt and I also had a lot of fun shopping at Target for our "take home outfit."  Since we don't know what we are having we bought a little girl and a little boy outfit.  What outfit do you think baby H will be coming home in?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

Baby Boy Hospital Outfit...who doesn't love a sweater vest!!

Baby Girl Hospital outfit...ruffles and a tutu!

That's about all for now, hopefully with my next posting I will have pictures of a nursery with furniture!!!

Favorite color will be....RED

So tonight Matt is tackling the project of crown molding.  With the joys of a house built in the 70's we have all popcorn ceilings.  Those of you who have these awesome popcorn ceilings understand the horridness of trying to paint a straight edge on the top of the wall.  So while painting our 4 coats of red paint Matt finally got frustrated and said screw it, we're putting up crown molding so go ahead and paint the ceiling...and we did!!  So now, as he is putting up the great looking crown molding I get informed that we are never, ever changing anything in this nursery and our child's favorite color will be red.  He doesn't care if they say blue, pink, purple or green.  Nope, it is red, for eternity.

Good thing they will be raised a cyclone fan...CY anyone???  Maybe some lady bugs or Spiderman in our future??

3 months....YIKES

Well as of yesterday we are officially 3 months til due date.  With that, progress has really kicked into high gear!!  Matt worked really hard on the nursery all weekend and again tonight.  The wainscoting is almost finished along with the trim.  He is calking and puttying tonight with the hopes of a coat of paint on Wednesday and that part of the nursery will be finished.  It will then be time to turn to furniture and the closet.  Luckily we have most of the furniture or at least the basics of furniture so that is a little bit of fixing up and some of Matt's handy work and we will be able to start moving things in.

Jackie came down a couple of weeks ago and helped me do the "pictures" for the room.  We took fabric that I used for the quilt and then wrapped it around canvas to make our own DIY canvas prints.  They turned out awesome and look really good against the red walls!!!  I also got the curtains finished and bought the curtain rods.  We have slowly started buying diapers and wipes (which Matt thinks I am crazy for) but I think if I can buy a variety of brands and sizes now it will just save us money later and the longer we can go post-baby with no diaper bills the better!!!  10 bucks doesn't seem so bad now, but with all the added expenses later it will be nice to save $10.

I have been feeling good.  My doctors appointments continue to be exciting.  I had appointments 3 weeks in a row in January...I had an appointment at 24 weeks where I had my 1 hour glucose test (which I failed by 3 points) and then got an unexpected surprise and got another ultrasound.  At our main ultrasound at 20 weeks they were unable to get a good profile picture due to a stubborn baby who likes to suck its thumb or cuddle with its hand by its face, so they wanted me to have another one to get us a good picture.  Well my insurance wasn't too keen on that idea and I had actually called to cancel the appointment thinking I have the rest of my life to look at the kids profile so a picture now isn't a huge deal.  When I went in for my appointment the Dr. asked why I had cancelled and said that the insurance denied it because it wasn't medically necessary.  She responded that she would like to make sure the bridge of the nose is developing properly and since I was going to be there for another hour doing my glucose test they would do it on the house.  We got some great profile pictures and they even did a 3D of the face.  I think we are going to have a pretty cute baby :o)  I may be just a little partial!

The next week I got to go in for a 3 hour glucose test to check for gestational diabetes since I failed my 1 hour.  Luckily I passed that baby in 2 hours so the let me go home.

Last week I had an appointment at 26.5 weeks.  When they went to get the heartbeat, the heartbeat dipped a bit and then came right back up, but the doctor wanted to make sure the baby wasn't in any stress, so I got to do a non-stress test.  They took me to a little room with a recliner and a TV, hooked me up to a contractions monitor and a heartrate montitor and sat me down.  I got to watch some TV for 30 minutes while I listened to the baby's heartbeat.  After the 30 minutes a lady came in and took the sheet that had been printing to the doctor.  All is well and we had a healthy heartbeat of 122-145.

So, now I am looking forward to a very uneventful next appointment.  I think I will take Matt with me and maybe we can be in and out in 15 minutes like the should be!

The baby has really started moving and Matt can finally feel it.  It is pretty cool that he can actually feel what I have been able to for a while now.

As far as any type of craving, I still don't have anything weird, but still loving ice cream.  I could eat 3 french silk pie blizzards a day!!!  (I am trying to limit myself to 1/week then a bowl a day at home)  I am also wanting Chicken in a Biskit crackers for breakfast almost everyday.  I have a box that just stays in my car at all times.

Well I do have some picture updates I will post below, but I hope you are all doing well and enjoying the georgous weather!!

the boards are up for the begining of the wainscoting

Adding the panels. Notice the changing table in the middle of the room that just needs a coat of paint.  This is a piece Matt had made as a buffet when we lived in our duplex, but will make a PERFECT changing table.

Time for some top trim!

It is SOO AWESOME!!  Matt did a fantastic job!!!

HAPPY NEW YEAR

Matt and I are very excited to begin the new year and for all of the things to come!!  We also had an AWESOME Christmas and baby Heidesch is very spoiled already!  We got our glider rocker and pack n' play.  There are also lots of clothes, toys, books and other fun baby things to go through.  The nursery is coming along.  It is painted and Matt has the wainscoting bought.  Hopefully that will get started this week.  We also got a crib over Christmas.  I have always liked the look of Jenny Lind Cribs, and turns out that is what my mom had for Devin!  Matt is going to make a few adjustments (so the side bar doesn't go up and down and the crib matress does) plus a coat of paint we will be good to go!  I also finished the quilt for the nursery.  It turned out pretty big, but will be nice for the baby to grow into and will be able to be the comforter for a toddler/twin bed too.  I have uploaded pictures so you can see belly pics as well as some nursery progress pictures.  Wishing you all a very Happy New Year!!

Big Head, Big Feet

Dr Appt: So today Matt and I had our 20 week ultrasound and check-up.  Everything looked great in the ultrasound.  We have a very stubborn baby who did not want to give up its thumb for a face/profile shot, so not as good of pictures as last time, but still very cool.  All organs appear to be where they should and working appropriately!    The baby measured in the 50-60th percentile in most areas, so I was thinking this is awesome, maybe a semi-small/normal baby, yeah then she got to the head and we're in the 80th!!  Must be all the brains, going to be a very smart baby :o)  The baby also appears to have huge feet (taking after its father?!?!?!?!)  Seemed like the feet were always getting in the way of the pictures.  We held firm and did not find out the sex, so there is no going back now, even though it appears everyone thinks it is a boy, we will have to wait and see...

Nursery update: Lisa came down and helped paint, using red paint was an experience.  Definitely should have used a primer, but you live and learn I guess.  It looks like it might take one more coat to try to blend the walls with the trim, but it is so fun.  I LOVE the color.  I also got the curtains finished.  A caterpillar and sun bordered with a fun green trim.  Hoping to get the room cleared out and maybe start the wainscoting over Christmas break, the goal is to also have the quilt done by Christmas, we will see what happens!

Dilemma: to have a bumper pad or not to have a bumper pad, that is the question...  I have heard so many things going both directions.  Don't do it, it can cause SIDS.  Do it, it is fine, they have been around for years and most kids are just fine.   I am planning on having the baby in a bassinet in our room for the first while anyways...so we will see.  My mom said she would make a bumper pad so it matches all of our "stuff," but I don't know.  Ugh, it is already so confusing!!

Cravings: So people have started asking, "Are you having any weird cravings yet?" I would have to say no to any weird cravings.  No ice cream with pickles here, however I am wanting ice cream all the time.  Which for those of you who know me well, know this isn't too weird.  But it is now ALL the time.  I will find myself driving by a McDonalds and having to stop for an ice cream cone, or picking up a french silk pie blizzard from the Indianola Dairy Queen for my drive home from work.  I am also wanting french fries with the ice cream.   FYI, Burger King's new french fries are delicious!!

That is all for now, hope you all have a VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS and HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

It is all getting started....

It has been a fun and busy week for Matt and I.  We registered this past weekend at Target and Babies R Us.  It is crazy to go through the isles and think of ALL the stuff that you are going to need.  With that, Matt and I have also decided that we are slowly going to start buying one big thing a month.  Tonight we ordered our travel system, Chicco Cortina in fuego coloring.  We looked all over for a good deal and realized that Chicco hardly ever goes on sale, but yeah for walmart.com....$40 cheaper than Target or Babies R us!!!!

I also had a doctors appointment on Thursday.  All continues to go well and I continue to have any "little" problem that you can have.  I found out that I am Rh negative, so I get to have some shots woohoo, but I guess after the past 2 years, a few shots won't kill me!

My appointment was also an interesting ordeal.  I got there and they didn't have my file or have me listed on the appointment schedule.  They said they could still get me in, not a problem.  So the nurse came out and called for Melissa.  As I was walking back she asked me if I had everything ready.  I thought to myself "what the hell, I'm only 15.5 weeks!!" so I answered...not quite and we moved on.  I was then shown to the room.  The Dr. came in and while looking at the chart asked "so, have you started having contractions?"  "um, no" and he looked at me with a bit of shock..."whoo, you're not 36 weeks?"  "nope, I'm only 15"  and he left the room.  "are you Kayla?"  "Nope, Melissa, 15 weeks Melissa."  "ok....just a minute, we have a new nurse and I think there has been a mix up"  Then he came back with MY file and it was much better.  He talked about the Rh and that I really don't need to worry at this point due to the shots and the fact that this is our first baby.  He measured me and I got to listen to the heartbeat again.  All is well and maybe next time I will double check the Melissa's!!!

This coming weekend we will be painting the nursery and getting started on bedding/curtains.  Not sure what I was thinking doing all of it myself, but with the help from mom, Jackie and Lisa, I think it will be dang cute!!!!

I am officially 16 weeks and the baby is the size of an avocado!!  Pictures coming soon!!!

13 weeks and 6th sense??

So we hit 13 weeks and we're almost done with the 1st trimester.  It seems SO crazy that we are already a third of the way done!!!  We want to thank everyone for the continued well wishes.  I am starting to feel better and better and the nausea is going away (as long as I eat every 2  hours...darn :o)  The baby is approximately the size of a peach and I am starting to show.  Matt and I took some pictures and as soon as I figure out how to upload them I will do that!!!  Jackie is also coming down next weekend and we are going to get moving on the nursery.  Paint will be our first project.  Matt hates painting and I love it, so I enlisted Jackie's help and we will be seeing RED by the end of the weekend!!!

6th sense???  So for those of you familiar with our cat Tiger you know he isn't the nicest of cats.  Matt got him "on sale" at the shelter because he was sick.  So Matt nursed him back to health and Tiger has never been very grateful!!  Well, until now.  Since I have become pregnant the cat is oddly nice.  He cuddles all the time and loves to lay on my lap almost hugging the baby...it is soo odd.  Matt and I have decided he knows somthing is going on and maybe he is hoping we'll let him stick around.  Oh well, for now I will take it!!

Fertility Doctor: $6,000
At home tests and medication: $1,000
Medication going Generic: Awesome
Hearing your baby's heartbeat: PRICELESS
And for everything else there's Grandma and Grandpa!!!

So it is official, we are pregnant and due April 29th.  Matt and I have decided to start a blog so our family can keep up on what is going on with the baby and our growing family.  I know many of you don't know our full story so I have updated the blog with some of my journal entries since this summer.  It goes over the last 2 years of trials, disappointments, and the utmost excitement!  To start from the beginning you will need to go to the bottom and read the posts up.

Hope you enjoy and since I know most of you will ask or wonder, No, we are not going to find out the sex of this baby!
