A New Year!

Ok, well it is a new year and time to get a Heidesch family (well Landon) update.  I am going to really try this year to give a month by month update of Landon and our family fun!!

Here are some of the big things in Landon's life!!

-Enjoyed 9 days of Christmas excitement!!  We had 6 Christmas' and saw 7 grandmas and 8 grandpas on the trip...We are very grateful for big families that live close enough to see during the holidays, but by day 8 I think Landon and Mommy were getting crabby and it was nice to come home.
-Started back to daycare today and was SOO excited, the extra snow days were just enough to put us over the edge.  He needs his friend time and mommy and daddy need work time!
-Has soo many toys from Christmas he got his own room for them all!  Our downstairs bedroom has officially become a toy room.  Mommy is enjoying throwing the toys in, shutting the door, and pretending the mess just isn't there!
-Talking, Talking, Talking.  I'm not quite sure what happened in the last week, but this kid just took off with his language.  He still has his "yabbadabbadoo" talk that we have no idea what he is saying, but the intelligible words are happening all the time.  Tonight while he was eating supper he said "mmm, mmm good mommy"

Favorite Food: Bread and/or Cheerios  He will help himself to a dry piece of bread or the Cheerios container.

Favorite Drink: Apple Juice

Favorite Toy: He got lots and lots of toys for Christmas and plays with them all, but the lego train seems to be the favorite right now.  We hear lots of "Choo Choo"

Favorite Show: He won't sit for too long, but for 2 minutes at a time he likes Mickey Mouse Clubhouse

Favorite Book: Pete the Cat and his Groovy Buttons.  Mommy can read it from memory and Landon loves to add in his "OH NO" He knows exactly when to say it too!!

Favorite Activity: Running around and chasing the puppy or jumping on the couch and/or yoga ball

Christmas, Up..Up..Up, Mr. Pointer and SO BIG

So my little boy is already 9 months old today!!  We have had a crazy and very exciting month.

Christmas: Landon had a lot of fun Christmas' and did great as a world traveler!  We started on Wednesday the 19th with Landon getting his gift from the daycare provider.  We had our Christmas here on the 22nd and Landon did really well working on opening his own gifts.  We started our Christmas extravaganza the 23rd.  Schmidt Christmas the 23rd, Grandma and Grandpa Heidesch on Christmas Eve, Great-Grandma and Grandpa Fischer, Great-Grandma and Grandpa Pottebaum, Grandma Peg and Papa Matt, and Grandma and Grandpa Brehmer all on Christmas day!!!  We then go to see Great-Grandma Fear, Aunt Becky, Aunt Bonnie, and Aunt Betty on the 26th.  And went to see Grandpa Fear on the 27th.  Whew, makes me tired just thinking about it all!!

Up..Up..Up: Landon got an activity table for Christmas from Grandma and Grandpa Brehmer.  Landon was so excited he pulled himself right up.  Since then he has figured out how to pull himself up on furniture and tried to move last night using the couch, Matt's leg and the coffee table.  I have a feeling I will have a kiddo cruising along furniture before I know it!  Grandma Brehmer is guessing he will take his first steps on Valentines day.  He is a holiday kid...crawled around Halloween, sat at Thanksgiving and then pulled himself up at Christmas.

Vacation and Grandma's: Matt and I went to Memphis to see Iowa State get beat in the bowl game, so Landon spent some time vacationing with Grandma and Grandpa Brehmer and Grandma and Grandpa Heidesch.  I think they all had a GREAT time!  Grandma Brehmer already asked when we are going on another vacation...

Mr. Pointer: Landon has discovered his pointer fingers and his new thing is to point or pinch EVERYTHING!!!!  He will point to all of your facial features and then put his finger in your mouth and pull on your lip.  He has mastered picking up puffs and eating like a champ.  All new things are point, point, point!

SO BIG: On Saturday Landon started immitating "So Big" I would put my hands in the air and he would follow.  Then later on in the day I would say "Landon is SO BIG" and he would automatically put his hands in the air.  It is so fun!  Now everytime you say that he will stretch and put his hands in the air.

BIG BOY TUB: Landon has started taking baths in the big boy tub.  We put down a "no slip mat" for him to sit on he sits in the tub.  He loves having lots of space to move around and play with his bath toys.  He just hasn't quite figured out that standing in the tub is a bit dangerous...the kid has to stand EVERYWHERE...

HAIR: Landon is finally getting some!  During one of his baths I was actually able to give him a mo hawk!  It is still pretty light, but there is enough that he doesn't look bald anymore.

SNOW: Well we got 14 inches of snow the week before Christmas so last week before it melted, but it got a little warmer we tried taking Landon out in the snow.  Well, another area that he is just like his mother.  He did not like it at all!  He was okay sitting, but did not want any part of touching it, laying in it, or moving around in it.

SIPPY CUP: We are making a lot of improvement!  Landon finally took some sips out of his sippy cup tonight of diluted apple juice.

Weekly Pictures: Well I am going to load a variety of pictures...Lets just say our weekly picture was much easier when he couldn't move!

Go, Go, Go

Well I just realized it has been forever since I updated the blog!!  A lot has happened since Halloween!

We have really started giving him more and more food and for the most part he loves it!  I am still making all of his baby food and it really is a lot easier than I ever thought.  The only thing we have found that he doesn't really like is carrots.  He definitely has a gag reflux when you try them, BUT if you mix them with apples he is a happy man :o)  His favorite has to be blueberries and bananas.  It is quite the dark purple concoction, but he LOVES them!  He also loves yogurt.  You get the container out and he goes nuts.  We are currently on a vanilla, peach, banana cream pie and strawberry banana rotation :o)

We started yogurt because right before Thanksgiving we got our first real illness.  Landon had been teething so we thought he was just stuffy because of that, NOPE!  The Tuesday before Thanksgiving we went to the doctor and Landon had an ear infection and bronchiolitis.  So we are now the proud owners of a nebulizer machine!  Landon has learned to take medicine like a champ and that is very helpful!!  The doctor had us give Landon yogurt to replace the good bacteria that his anti-biotics would kill in his stomach.  I think he was pretty excited that even if he was sick, this was a pretty awesome treat!

Landon's cold also helped him master sitting.  I am pretty sure since the only way he could breath was sitting up, he decided that there's no better time than the present to start sitting!

He is working on the transition from sitting, to crawling.  He can sit and he can crawl, but getting from one to the other can be a little difficult!  We have had a lot of face plants, but this week he has discovered that if you put your hands down first it saves your face.  He has been doing much better and is into everything!!!

He loves the Christmas tree and it is almost like he knows what presents are his.  He goes for the same gift every time and it is one of his!

Landon is also working on pulling himself up.  He has found a couple of toys or places where he can pull himself up to his knees.  He doesn't really know what to do when he gets there, but he is definitely working on it.  I think we will have a stander before we know it!

I said above we have two front bottom teeth. They both came in on the same day and he did awesome. We hadn't even realized he was getting them until he went to bite on Matt's finger and he felt a little pinch! Since then there has been a little more crabbiness and I think our kid drools more than anyone else in history, but bibs are great!

So that is the last month in a nut shell and here are some pictures! Merry Christmas everyone!!

Happy Halloween!!

Matt and I wake up everyday wondering if today is the day for a tooth, no luck yet, but Landon is a drooling, chewing mess!!

Landon has gotten some serious grandma time the past couple of weeks.  We had 6 month pictures and cousin time a couple of weeks ago, last week Grandma Sharon came to visit so mom could go to the football game and daddy could work in the garage, she gets to come AGAIN this weekend to watch Landon while mommy and daddy are at the craft fair and then Landon is going to see Grandma Julie on the 16th while mommy and daddy take their first little trip to watch football in Kansas.  To say he has been a little spoiled is an understatement, but he loves all of his grandparents!!

Tonight was beggars night and I think Landon was the cutest little moster out there!!

6 months ago today...

It is soo crazy to think that 6 months ago today I was just getting wheeled up to the NICU to see my beautiful baby boy...He is growing so much everyday and truly is becoming a little boy!  He is so happy and smiles all the time.  You can't help but love that grin!  He is now rolling continuously and will get stuck under the coffee table or with his legs straddling a toy.  He does NOT like it when he is in his bed and rolls himself stuck into a corner!  We have started liking bath a lot more...hopefully we will be sitting soon, so he can play a little bit.

He is now eating "real" food at dinner time.  He has tried sweet potatoes, butternut squash, green beans and peas.  I am making more sweet potatoes, squash, carrots and apples tonight.  He loves everything so far with the exception of green beans.  He will eat them, but definitely not his favorite!!  We are also going to finally start letting him have some fruit.  They say to have them try veggies first so they don't like fruit so much they never want veggies.  We'll see how it goes...

We have our appointment on Thursday so not sure how big he is, but he is definitely getting a lot longer.  We have grown out of 3-6 month one piece outfits...just too long.

Landon attended his first ISU tailgate and did really well, while he was there he discovered his feet, so that kept him entertained!!

We get his 6 month pictures taken this weekend, so we will update you soon with pictures and height/weight.

Enjoy, Melissa

5 months old already!!

So my baby turned 5 months old on Friday!!  He is getting so big!

This month has consisted of a few more milestones.  We have been working on sleeping in the crib...this was small steps each day.  He now sleeps in the crib without being proped up and completely surrounded with blankets and towels.

He has started eating cereal like a champ and tonight we made the move onto baby food.  I am trying to make my own and it really wasn't to hard at all.  Thanks to Louise for getting us a baby food processor and containers for a shower gift, I was off and running.  We started with orange veggies, so I made squash and sweet potato tonight.  Matt gave Landon squash tonight and he liked it!  The first few bites were a little funny, but he decided it was good stuff and ate it all!

We have also started our favorite season of the year, football season!  Landon has had a lot of fun cheering for the Cyclones and so far has brought good luck as we started 3-0 and beat the Hawkeyes last weekend!  He even had a day of football with Uncle Luke yesterday while mommy and daddy went to the football game.

He is rolling over without any trouble now, and is starting to get up on his knees!  It won't be too much longer and I will have a mobile baby...oh lord!

What, I can't go to the game?

But, I can still cheer for the Cyclones!!
