Journal Entry 10.10.11

POKED, PRODDED AND PICTURES

Today was our first OB appointment at the regular doctor.  I am official 11 weeks and 1 day.  I will be delivering at Mercy in Des Moines with a due date of April 29th, 2012.

Talk about a well oiled machine.  We arrived about 15 minutes early for paperwork.  After spending 10 minutes trying to find my paperwork from Mid-Iowa I started the paperwork for OBGYN and associates and was called back.  Matt was taken to a room while I was given a cup and sent to the bathroom, weighed, height checked and blood pressure check.  Then I was taken to the room too and the questions began.  The doctor came in, who was very nice, to go over more questions and explain what was going to happen during the morning.  Then I had a physical, was sent to the lab for blood work, the ultrasound room to get a heartbeat and yet another room for a flu shot.  Not quite sure if more was taken out or put in!

Our ultrasound was super cool today!  We were finally able to see the baby move and see facial features.  In the beginning the hand was up the the face (a thumb sucker already?) so the attendant had me cough and that sure woke it up.  After a big stretch we could see a full profile with a little button nose.  All continues to look good and the next appointment is scheduled for 11-7-11.  I will see a different doctor each appointment so I will at least have seen the doctor who delivers the baby.

After today it feels even more real that there really is a baby in there and I am going to be a mommy!

P.S. the baby is the size of a lime today!
